Talking Mics with Massy

In June 2019, I was fortunate to spend a day with producer/engineer Sylvia Massy, photographing and documenting what is possibly the largest private microphone collection in the world. Known as the Paquette Microphone Museum, it was started in the 1950s by enthusiast Bob Paquette in Milwaukee, where I am from. Over the past few years, Sylvia has been combing the microphone lockers of the world for an upcoming, exhaustive book on microphones, and her enthusiasm for mics is infectious! Sylvia has since acquired the collection, and now it’s the cornerstone of her new California-based microphone museum.
