Studio 101 – An Intro to Monitoring

All the decisions we make during recording and mixing are based on what we hear in the monitors, so naturally, it’s essential to have a listening environment that we can trust. As such, there are three things to consider: the speakers themselves, the room they are in and some general best practices for monitoring.

Most of these concerns come into play primarily in the mixing stage, where a good monitoring environment is critical to creating good mixes that travel well and sound good on other systems.
