We know that every great recording space has a story—and we want to tell yours. Studio Spotlight is a new monthly feature that showcases the home, project and personal studios of our readers. Big or small, from spare-bedroom setups to full-on production spaces.

This isn’t about having the most expensive gear or a perfectly tuned room. It’s about inspiring each other with the creativity, resourcefulness and the passion that goes into making music in whatever space you have where you are blessed to make music.

In this first installment, we’re kicking things off with the personal recording space of noted drummer Pat Mastelotto. We interviewed Pat back in our August 2022 issue as part of our feature on Stick Men with Markus Reuter and Tony Levin.

In addition to Stick Men, Pat’s remarkable career includes work with Mr. Mister, King Crimson, Tu-Ner, O.R.k. and Exposure, as well as session credits with Sylvian–Fripp, XTC, Steven Wilson and The Flower Kings. And if you’ve ever heard the theme song to the hit sitcom Friends—“I’ll Be There for You” by The Rembrandts—that’s Pat on drums.
