You’ve probably heard the term confirmation bias—essentially, favoring information or results that support what we already believe, expect or want to be true.

I recently found myself thinking about the ways we can be fooled when mixing, editing or simply listening. Here are some common traps I’ve experienced in the studio, along with suggestions for avoiding them.
