For many audio engineers, getting into modular synths—or even hardware synths at all—might seem like a bit of a stretch. It is definitely a subset-of-a-subset sort of thing. That said, it is becoming increasingly common to walk into studios large and small and find a few synths sitting around to spark ideas or, better yet, a small skiff or two filled with modular gear to add a little extra flavor to a track.
