Playing a live show is different from a recording session—when you’re playing live, any imperfections pass by in the blink of an eye. On the other hand, a recording is a permanent record of your playing on a given day, and blemishes are forever. With that in mind, I’ve put together some things to consider in preparation for recording. I’m giving advice to both drummer and engineer, in order to get the absolute best-recorded performance.
