Paul Vnuk Jr. - My UK Studio Field Trip
Real World Studios: Last month while in the UK, I had the opportunity to visit a pair of well-known recording studios. The first is a residential studio complex located in the Wiltshire village of Box, a couple of hours outside London by rail. Real World studios was built in 1988 by Peter Gabriel. His goal, beyond being a playground for his own projects, was to have a space to bring musicians together from around the world in musical collaborations.
British Grove Studios: Also on my UK studio tour, along with Abbey Road (see Page 16) and Metropolis (for the launch of the latest Genelec ‘The Ones’ studio monitors, covered last month) was British Grove Studios. This facility was commissioned in 2002 and built in 2003 by Mark Knopfler, in the Chiswick area of London. British Grove contains two studios with near-matching control rooms.
