Mixing My Band - ‘In The Box’ Mixing Techniques for a Reggae Rock Album

Last month we did a deep dive on recording the album Two More Skip the Last by my band Üfer. Today, we’re focusing on the mixing portion—which, unlike the tracking, was done entirely ‘in the box’ at my home studio. It was mastered by occasional RECORDING contributor Justin Perkins at his studio, Mystery Room Mastering. In case you missed last month’s tracking article, Üfer is a four-piece reggae/rock band based in Denver and the album was tracked at Coupe Studios. In this article, we’ll go over the plugins and mixing techniques we used on the album and share some of the biggest takeaways from the project.
