More Bass or Better Information?

Few additions to a studio monitoring system can be as helpful—or as misleading—as a subwoofer. Used correctly, a good sub can reveal information your nearfields simply cannot reproduce, clarify the relationship between kick and bass, and improve how your mixes translate outside the studio. Used incorrectly, it can do exactly the opposite.
