Four Tools of Acoustical Design - Part 2: Diffusion
In November 2018, we discussed absorption, which removes energy from the air via a variety of acoustical treatments. Our next tool is diffusion, which leaves sonic energy in the air, but certainly doesn’t leave it alone. Diffusion shapes sound to solve certain issues that can create an inaccurate listening environment; it becomes another step to bridge the gap between our control room as it is and how it should be.
