80 Years of Sennheiser – Celebrating eight decades of innovation and beyond

In 2025, Germany-based Sennheiser celebrated its 80th anniversary. Over the past eight decades, Sennheiser has been a global leader and innovator in microphones, headphones, wireless technology and more.

But what exactly is the “more” in that sentence?

In 1991, Sennheiser acquired fellow German microphone manufacturer Neumann. Neumann later expanded by acquiring loudspeaker specialist Klein + Hummel in 2009. In 2019, Neumann added the NDH studio-focused headphones to its portfolio. Most recently, in July 2022, Sennheiser acquired Merging Technologies, whose Anubis audio interface became the basis for the Neumann MT 48. Merging is gradually being integrated into Neumann.

All of this exists alongside the ever-expanding catalog of Sennheiser studio and live microphones, headphones, immersive audio products (under the AMBEO banner), the cutting-edge Spectera bidirectional wireless system, and the recently announced Neumann VIS (Virtual Immersive Studio), a spatial audio mixing application for Apple Vision Pro.
