Wildewoman (The New Recordings) – A 10-year celebration
In October 2013, the indie-pop band Lucius (singers Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe, producer/drummer Dan Molad, and guitarist Peter Lalish) released its debut album (as a full band), Wildewoman. Now, 10 years, 3 albums and dozens of tours later, the band has chosen to celebrate that album’s release with Wildewoman (The New Recordings), which, as the name suggests, contains all-new rerecordings and gentle reinterpretations of the original album, as well as the early single B-Side “Genevieve” and a new song “Housewarming” which was originally written during the original Wildewoman sessions.
For Wildewoman (The New Recordings), Lucius is joined by longtime friends and collaborators Marcus Mumford, Devon Gilfillian and Brandi Carlile. These sessions also feature the return of former band member multi-instrumentalist Andrew Burri, who was part of the band at the time of the original recordings.
I first met Holly, Jess and Dan in our May 2022 issue when I interviewed them about the band’s previous release, Second Nature. It was great to catch up and hear all about what it was like revisiting their songs in the studio 10 years later.
