Studio 101 – Putting Together a Personal Studio: Wrap Up / Buyers’ Guide
Welcome to the final column in this year’s series, taking a back-to-basics look at building a personal project studio. In keeping with this issue’s Buyers’ Guide theme, I’ve put together a few example setups at different price points—ranging from a simple, budget-friendly rig to a full-featured, high-end workspace.
These are broad, big-picture suggestions meant to provide a starting point rather than a shopping list. Each setup factors in a computer, audio interface, DAW/software, MIDI controller, microphone(s) and accessories—and in the larger builds, some basic room treatment options as well.
Hopefully, this will provide some food for thought for anyone thinking of dipping their toe into the personal studio arena.
