Studio 101 - Part 8: Mixing, Part 1: Signal Flow
Whether you are multitracking your own work or doing session recordings of a band, at some point you’ll find yourself with a lot of tracks and the need to combine them into a final audio file. This process is called mixing, and it can be the most fun—and the most frustrating—part of the entire production process.
We are going to start off this discussion by walking through the signal flow setup that you’ll use to create a mix. This will give us the chance to learn a little about EQ, insert effects, submixes, and shared effects, and is the starting point for a life’s worth of learning. Let’s get started!
