When it comes to guitar, Robby Krieger should need no introduction. His combination of jazz, blues and flamenco guitar playing fused into a style different from many of his 1960s contemporaries and helped forge part of the unique sonic canvas that was The Doors.

Over the years, Robby has continued to impart his distinct six-string voice to a multitude of projects, often in conjunction with his former Doors brethren John Densmore (drums) and Ray Manzarek (keyboards) in the Butts Band, Manzarek–Krieger of The Doors, Doors of the 21st Century and more, along with nine solo albums. This includes his latest project, the instrumental, jazz-fusion twinged Robby Krieger & The Soul Savages.

Just over ten years ago, Robby teamed up with audio engineer Michael Dumas to open his own studio, Horse Latitudes. Today, that studio has morphed into the rechristened Love Street Sound, run by studio manager and engineer Marco Moir.

I sat down with Robby and Marco to learn more about Robby, The Soul Savages and Love Street Sound.
