RECORDING Field Notes – 10 Questions about Immersive Mixing
I am a stereo-minded engineer, so for this issue’s Immersive theme, I am going to stay mostly silent and venture out into the field and inform myself about the current state of immersive mixing by speaking to two of my friends who have been working in the field for a while.
First is my longtime friend Chuck Ainlay, who has been mixing surround since the 1990s. He was an influential mentor for me in the early 1980s when I worked under him at Castle Recorders. Following Chuck is my new friend Tom Davis, whose extensive film and TV/video work provides another take on immersive audio.
