Recording and Mixing The String Cheese Incident

Formed in 1993, The String Cheese Incident is a jam band made up of Michael Kang (mandolin, electric guitar, violin), Michael Travis (drums), Bill Nershi (acoustic, lap steel, and electric guitar), Kyle Hollingsworth (keyboards), Keith Moseley (bass guitar), and Jason Hann (percussion). While most jam bands are genretically (yes, I made this word up) eclectic in nature, SCI takes it to extremes with a blend of music ranging from Rocky Mountain bluegrass, classic rock, country, folk, and jazz, to electronica, dubstep, reggae, Latin, progressive rock, disco, fusion, and beyond.

Like most jam bands, when SCI plays live you never know what’s going to be on the set list, and most shows are recorded for later distribution. They boast a discography of many live and studio albums and recently began distributing digital singles recorded at their new, private recording facility called The Sound Lab.
