Mystery, Images and Stories: Recording Heavy MakeUp with Edie Brickell, CJ Camerieri and Trever Hagen

While best known as the lead singer of the Texas-based Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, Edie is equal parts a singer-songwriter and, better yet, a collaborator of the highest order. In addition to her solo career and continued work with New Bohemians, Edie has been part of musical explorations with Heavy Circles, The Gaddabouts, Steve Martin, Jerry Garcia, her children and more.

Her latest project, Heavy MakeUp, is a collaboration between Edie and the duo CARM—made up of CJ Camerieri and Trever Hagen. Heavy MakeUp specializes in trumpet-based, live improvisational Ableton Live-centered soundscapes and modern electronic beat-infused compositions.

Heavy MakeUp takes listeners on an 11-song journey through sonic moods, vivid poetry, aural images and exotic grooves, almost entirely improvised over three days in a New York City apartment.
