Inside the Box – Virtual Preamps

Virtual emulations of almost every component in the analog signal chain—EQ, compression, tape and effects—have been successfully modeled inside the box and keep improving. This includes the first stage in most analog signal chains, the mic preamp. While it may not offer the dramatic changes imparted by other processors, a virtual preamp can be a key stage in providing some beloved analog character.
