A View From Dream Theater HQ

Dream Theater has been at the forefront of progressive metal for thirty-seven years and fifteen albums. The band’s sound is infused with an alchemical blend of musical styles: classic prog rock, heavy metal, classical music, electronic synth textures, arena rock, art rock, and beyond.

The band currently consists of James LaBrie on vocals, Jordan Rudess on keyboards, Mike Mangini on drums and founding members John Myung on bass and guitarist John Petrucci, who oversees production. 

Their latest album, A View from the Top of the World, is the band’s first group effort to come out of the newly christened DTHQ (Dream Theater Headquarters) tracked by the band’s house engineer James ‘Jimmy T’ Meslin and mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap. We sit down with John Petrucci and Jimmy T to tell the tale.
