As we did with our discussion about tracking, this month we are going to check in with  professional recording engineers to gain some perspective from their mixing experience. For this go-around, we’ve brought in three exceptional recording specialists from different parts of the recording world.

First, we bring back Erin Barra: Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music, recording engineer, producer, and writer.

Second, we introduce Wayne Peet—the owner and head engineer at Newzone Studio in Los Angeles, where he works on projects from hip hop to hardcore jazz.

Finally, we talk to engineer/studio owner Paul Vnuk Jr.—RECORDING Magazine’s Tech Editor as well as an experienced recording pro. Each one has a strong opinion about the right way to mix a project, and some very personal views about how their work gets done. Time to hear from the experts!
