Listen

There’s one word that comes up more than any other when I am talking about music, and that word is “listen.” It literally describes how we spend almost every minute of our time when making music. We listen—a lot.

It would be no exaggeration to say that every decision we make is based on what we are hearing, but also what we have heard, which makes the job of listening an even more critical part of our skill set as music creators. But how do we learn to listen, and how do we improve?
