Dave Schoepke is a noted North American drummer. Over the past 35 years, he has toured with Martin Barre (guitarist, Jethro Tull) and recorded and toured with Willie Porter. Dave’s work spans radio and TV commercials, accompaniment CDs for Hal Leonard, and covering the Bonham slot for over 20 years in the Led Zeppelin tribute band No Quarter. Dave currently drums for the band Tweed, which just returned from a European tour this past fall, and he also heads up the experimental music collective called Blank Radio.

Last July, Dave released his first solo album, Drums On Low. Recorded in his Hartland, WI home studio, the album is a drums-only affair that runs a spectrum from hypnotic tribalism to musique concrète and the avant-garde, with nods to modern jazz, rock, and orchestral moments in between. Tracked on a traditional drum kit with occasional alt-percussion pieces thrown in for texture, Drums On Low is not just a collection of gratuitous drum solos. Many of the album’s tracks have a distinct melodic voice highlighting the harmonic richness and depth of each drum. Dave recorded Drums On Low in a new house with a new recording space, between his newborn son’s naps while his wife was home on maternity leave.
